A chipset story recast as a collectible battle for Comic-Con.
00 / Overview
Turning processor architecture into characters fans would take home.
AMD wanted a major Comic-Con presence for a chipset designed around high-end graphics and gaming. Agency689 developed the campaign concept and visual world for Operation Scorpius: The Legend of FX, turning technical performance into a squad of illustrated characters led by AMD’s existing hero, Ruby.

01 / Campaign Concept
Give the technology a conflict, a cast, and a world.
Instead of explaining the chipset as a specification sheet, the campaign represented multi-core processing as a team of super-powered characters. The format met gamers, animators, artists, and technology fans inside the visual language of Comic-Con.

02 / Art and Production
Designed as a comic, not an advertisement in costume.
Agency689 created the campaign strategy, visual concept, supporting characters, drawing, painting, page production, printing, and distribution. AMD supplied Ruby and the written script. The finished piece was produced as an issue fans could pick up, read, collect, and share.
03 / Distribution
From San Diego to an international Comic-Con circuit.
More than 500,000 copies were distributed at San Diego Comic-Con. Continued printing took the campaign through events in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia, with total worldwide distribution exceeding two million copies.
